The primary responsibility for the safety of staff, students and the public lies with the Permit Holder (Principal Investigator \ instructor) in charge of the research or the instructor in charge of teaching. Permit Holders must be familiar with, follow, and ensure that all individuals working within their laboratories comply with procedures outlined in Biosafety Program Manual. In particular, Principal Investigators and Instructors shall:
Ensure that the appropriate containment cabinets function properly by having them tested at the stipulated intervals;
Ensure that all persons working under their control have had appropriate training in working safely with potentially hazardous biological materials.
Provide appropriate personal protective equipment and standard operating procedures.
Not to transfer any bio-hazardous materials to laboratories with out permission from the institutional Bio-Safety Officer
