Departments are responsible for:
- Reporting first aid station location to the Safety Office;
- Ensuring that a first aid station for the treatment of injured/ill persons is in a location with:
- Campus phone available nearby;
- Readily accessible. This is normally considered to be within one building storey or two minutes away (First aid rooms are considered first aid stations);
- Clearly marked with signage to be easily located; and
- Where possible, a sink with running water nearby
- Designating qualified First Aiders for each first aid station;
- Supporting recommended immunization expenses
- Designating Person(s) in Charge who works near the first aid station to maintain and inspect first aid station/kit every 3 months (Jan., April, July and Oct. recommended); and
- Maintaining a notice board at each first aid station that displays the following:

- 4 - Gauze bandages 5 cm (2")
- 4 - Gauze bandages 10 cm (4")
- 4 - Compress Bandage Surgical pads (pressure dressings)
- 6 - Triangular bandages
- 2 - Rolls of splint padding
- 1 - Roll-up splint
- 1 - Roll non adhesive tape 5 cm (2")
- 1 - First aid scissors
- 1 - Splinter out
- 2 - Instant cold packs
- 6 - Pairs nitrile gloves
- 2 - Single use CPR protective devices
