PAC Pool Maintenance Standard

Full Pool

When working alone in the pool area, within 1.8 metres (6 ft) of the edge, an approved life jacket must be worn at all times. (This is not required when walking through the pool area or when another person is present)

Empty Pool

The deep end of the PAC pool constitutes a fall hazard of more than 3 meters (10 ft).  Therefore fall protection or fall arrest procedures must be followed:

  1. Whenever the pool is empty a barrier must be erected around the deep end.
  2. Persons working with in 1.8 metres (6 ft) of the pool edge (deep end) must wear appropriate fall arrest harness, attached to an anchor capable of holding 2,250 kgs (5,000 lbs).

Ladders used to access the pool must must be secured and extend at least .9 metres (3 ft) above the pool deck.

Scaffolding used in or around the pool must set up to ensure that the scaffolding will not roll into the pool.
