Computer-Based Safety Training

The Safety Office offers a variety of computer-based training. Please select from the list below to learn more.

Most online modules are designed to take between 45-60 minutes to complete.

Access to online training modules requires authentication using your WatIAM credentials.

Students

All undergraduates requiring WHMIS must take

Safety Orientation/WHMIS for Students (undergraduate students only)


Employees

Mandatory Training

"working" (paid or unpaid positions) at UW must take the following courses

Employee Safety Orientation (requires 30-60 minutes to complete)

Workplace Violence Awareness (requires 30-60 minutes to complete)

 

The following online training modules are mandatory for those working with the specific hazards:

BioSafety Time required 90 minutes

Cryogenic and Compressed Gas Safety Time required 45 minutes

Laboratory Safety Time required 45 minutes

Radiation Safety Laboratory Time Required 3 hours (you can do in small sections)

Radiation Safety Logging sources and Moisture Gauges Time Required 2 hours (you can do in small sections)

Radiation Safety Instruments Time Required 45 minutes (you can do in small sections)

Radiation Safety Transportation Time Required 2 hours (you can do in small sections)

WHMIS for Employees Time Required 45 minutes

Working in Cleanrooms

X-Ray Safety Time Required 2 hours

Laser Safety Time Required 2 hours


Federated University and Affiliated Colleges and UW Affilliated Daycare Facilities

The following course is available to all faculty and staff in the above areas with a UW UserID.
